BBHybrids Tool: backup and restore BlackBerry applications

This article serves to clarify the use of BBHybrid Tool that has been previously written in article What can be done BBHybrids Tool v2.4 (Phone Tools tab)?. Especially backup and restore BlackBerry applications functions.

Do not notice the highlighted text in the image below, that’s not the point.

Making backup

You can use BBHybrid Tool for backing up applications installed on the phone, so no need to download it when needed for reinstallation.

  1. Connect your BlackBerry to computer or laptop
  2. Run BBHybrid Tool
  3. Go to Phone Tools tab
  4. Click Connect (first button, left sidebar) to connecting your BlackBerry with BBHybrid Tool
  5. Read file system by click Read button (under the Connect button)
  6. To save all system files, click Save in .COD Files section (under the Read button)
  7. Or….. click Save in Third Party Apps to save 3rd party application files

Store properly the backup files so it can be used again later.

Restore backup

This process is actually easy, it’s just that the selection of the proper application file which makes it difficult. There is an application that consists of only one file with .cod file extension, while the others are very complicated with lots of .cod and .rem files. Step 1 until 5 are the same with above (making backup step by step).

    1. Connect your BlackBerry to computer or laptop
    2. Run BBHybrid Tool
    3. Go to Phone Tools tab
    4. Click Connect (first button, left sidebar) to connecting your BlackBerry with BBHybrid Tool
    5. Read file system by click Read button (under the Connect button)
    6. In .Cod Files part, click Install
    7. Pop up window dialog will open to select the application file which will be entered into the system (for installation). Do not choose the wrong file the application, causing the application does not work.
    8. If it is, check the applications installed on the phone. If it works fine, meaning backup restore process successfully. If not, please re-install via OTA (Over The Air).
