Making Key Pairs (Symbian S60 v3 and v5 Certificate file)
When you make a S60 v3 or v5 of Nokia Symbian theme and will compile it become to ready use theme, need a certificate file in the compilation process, on Carbide UI called Key Pairs. You can making key pairs directly on Carbide UI. This file will determine when the application or theme file are expired. This file is different from the certificate files to be ordered in OPDA because it is not IMEI number based.

On the window making key pairs dialog choose New… to make new Key Pairs.

Choose Make Keys …
Fill the form below. Click browse to determine key pairs file location. Key Pairs file consists of two files that use .cer and .key extension. After that click generate.

You will find that two file on the directory you determined. Then choose save…

Now you will see the key pairs name that you just created.
In the compilation process, choose the key pairs name from scrool down menu. Insert the same password that you use when you making key pairs.

If so… the theme will ready to install on your mobile phone.
But if you see “error certificate” or “certificate expired” notification when you install themes or applications… that mean your mobile phone using new firmware and you need to sign the theme and application before you install it. To sign the theme and application, you need certificate file (with IMEI based, especially for new firmware and Symbian).
