Android multimedia Smartphone Tutorial 0 Responses

A few weeks ago, I asked for help from Belinda (SourceTec Software) to make my article how to convert video to get the video dimensions to suit the phone screen and with enough capacity sparingly.

…… and here is her article.

HTC Sensation - Android smartphoneMany video converter tools can directly convert video in correct format for your devices or mobiles. However, how to get the video both in correct format and dimension? And even with smallest file size to save the devices storage capacity?

Let’s get concreter, if I would like to play full screen videos on my HTC Sensation, and I hope I can put as many as possible videos in my HTC while the picture quality remains great, is that possible? How to realize that?

First, I need to know the detailed parameters about my HTC Sensation’s video playing:

HTC Sensation, in Android 2.3 system, has a massive 4.3″ HD touch screen offering high definition video enjoyment with 540 x 960 pixels dimension. More about Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Then, I make sure what video format does this HTC mobile support: MP4 (Android).

So, I need to convert the videos I wish to view on my HTC to MP4 (HD MP4 will be perfect), and I’d better set the video’s output dimension as 960 x 540.

I will do the following steps:

Step 1. Download some video converter software, which supports encoding (HD) MP4 video and customizing video properties, launch it. In this article, I used Free Video Converter from Sothink.

Step 2. Import videos I want to enjoy on my HTC to this video converter. And choose target encoding format:

Here I have to say, the reason I chose Sothink Video Converter is that it supports almost all video formats and it pre-sets various encoding profiles so I could freely select any one. That’s very convenient.

For HTC Sensation, I of course could directly choose profile “Google Android MP4” to convert video to Android. Video Converter definitely will export videos that could be successfully played on my HTC. However, here I would like to set detailed encoding properties by myself for getting correct format, smallest file size, greatest quality and perfect ratio.

Sothink Video Converter - support HD Video

I chose “MP4 HD 720p Video” from HD Video in the pop-up menu of “Encoding profile”.

Step 3. Set the video dimension as “960 x 540”.

The HD videos always has large dimension and big file size. But here my mobile’s 960 x 540 screen only needs the same or even smaller parameters.

As for “Zoom mode”, I chose “Stretch” for full screen enjoyment.

Besides pre-made profiles, this video converter also offers simplified video/audio quality levels for users to easily find a balance between media quality and encoding speed. Just keep the default settings and it will export great mobile videos in short time.

By now, the setting progress is quite easy and it makes me would like to always converting videos for my mobile like this. So, I saved the profile I made. I save all the parameters’ setting as a new profile and next time I could directly to use it.

Just click the button “Save as New Profile” near “Encoding profile”.

Step 4. Now everything is OK. Click button “Convert” to get much closer to my perfect video enjoyment on HTC Sensation.

That’s all…..

And that also can solve video enjoyment on iPhone, iPad, and other portables. Even if you want to use a DVD Ripper for perfect DVD movie enjoyment on devices, it still helps.
